Tick diseases are becoming more common in our area~~Lyme Disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Erlichiosis and Alpha-gal. A newcomer, Powassan Disease is moving down the east coast towards us. This one is really scary as a tick can infect a person so quickly.

A Tick Forum sponsored by The Master Gardeners of Mathews, Middlesex and Gloucester will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 4:00 – 8:00 in the Chesapeake Lounge at Brent and Becky’s Bulbs, 7900 Daffodil Lane, Gloucester.

There will be Learning Stations from 4:00 – 6:00:
Ticks, Landscapes, Deer, Mice, and Tick Biology
Permethrin-treated clothing
DEET
Barrier Sprays
Tick-borne Diseases

The Keynote Speaker will be David N. Gaines, Ph.D., of the Virginia Department of Health. He is the State Public Health Entomologist in Richmond VA.

This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
