Gwynn’s Island Festival
Celebrating the History and Culture of Gwynn’s Island
Join the community for the annual Gwynn’s Island Festival — a beloved celebration of the history, culture, creativity, and coastal heritage of Gwynn’s Island.
Held on the last Saturday in June, this family-friendly event brings together residents and visitors for a full day of local traditions, handcrafted goods, delicious food, live entertainment, and community spirit along Virginia’s beautiful Chesapeake Bay.
Festival guests can browse a wide variety of artisan and craft vendors featuring handmade jewelry, woodworking, paintings, photography, leather goods, ironworks, and more. Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy live music performances, local food vendors, midway games, family activities, and special attractions celebrating the unique character and culture of Gwynn’s Island.
As part of the broader Mathews VA250 celebrations, this year’s festival also commemorates America’s 250th anniversary and highlights the important role Gwynn’s Island played in Virginia’s colonial and Revolutionary War history.
Whether you’re a longtime festival attendee or visiting for the first time, the Gwynn’s Island Festival offers a wonderful opportunity to experience small-town coastal charm, local artistry, and community celebration.
The event is located at the Gwynn’s Island Civic Center, 1996 Old Ferry Rd., Gwynn, VA 23066
