Author Talk – John Newcomb
February 18, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Fly me to the Moon! Those words inspired John Newcomb to join NASA’s Space Program as a young engineer where he quickly became involved in their early space missions. As told in his book, “A Bunch of Plumbers”, armed with butcher paper, slide rules and punch card computers, John and his fellow “plumbers” accomplished two of the most successful space missions of the 20th century – the Lunar Orbiter Project which placed 5 Lunar Orbiters around the Moon and the Viking Project which placed two landers on the surface of Mars.
John will share stories of the extraordinary people who are the unsung heroes of the space race. And… you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to enjoy his talk!
A reception and book signing will follow.
