“Cold War Hero”

An up-close and personal presentation by Gary Powers, son of famed U-2 Spyplane pilot, Frances Gary Powers. Gary will present “Cold War” video footage, memorabilia, background information on this dark time in our history, and a trailer from the new, blockbuster, Academy Award nominated movie, “A Bridge of Spies”, starring Tom Hanks and Alan Alda. Gary was a technical advisor for the recently-released film that tells the story of his father and the controversy that surrounded the Soviet missle strike that brought down the super-secretplane over Russia in 1960, his capture and incarceration in Moscow, and the negotiations that occured behind the scenes to trade his father for a Soviet spy being held by the U.S.
