“Death on Gwynn’s Island” Author To Speak at Mathews Museum
The author of a new top-selling mystery novel, “Death on Gwynn’s Island,” Bruce Bracken, will speak at the Museum, Thursday, July 16, with
a book signing, at 7:00 pm. This best selling author has captivated readers in the area, with Gwynn’s Island as the setting of his newly released
murder mystery. Bruce Bracken is Emeritus Professor at The College of William & Mary and is an author of fiction books, in addition to his
many other scholarly contributions.
In his release, the story is set on Gwynn’s Island in Virginia’s Chesapeake Bay: “The mystery unfolds amid storms, watermen, old histories and
secrets that refuse to stay buried. A small island. A long memory. A murder that changes everything.” Bracken will share his experiences in writing
the novel and his stepping away from academia and pursuing fiction.
