Through the Watermen Heritage Tours, you can book a charter with local Captain J.C. Hudgins. By day, Capt. Hudgins is a commercial waterman, specifically crabbing in the Hole in the Wall channel near Gwynn’s Island. On the weekends, he takes out visitors aboard his boat, the Risky Business II, to teach about the local ecology, and rich maritime tradition of the Mobjack Bay and south Chesapeake Bay area.
You’re in for a treat with Capt. Hudings, who serves as President of the Virginia Watermen’s Association, advocating for Bay fisheries. He enjoys teaching people about his lifetime of knowledge on the water, and where their seafood comes from.
