Join the Mathews County NAACP for a Black History Month Celebration! Guest speakers, including S.A. Cosby, Allison Thomas, Maria Montgomery Giddens, and Elise Williams, will discuss the history of the Black community of Gwynn's Island, the Black Exodus from Gwynn's Island, and "The Mathews I Call Home," with music provided by the Emmaus Male Chorus.

In recognition of Black History Month, the Mathews Historical Museum is pleased to host performances by the Men’s and the Women’s Chorus of our local Ebenezer Baptist Church, at the Cobbs Creek Arts Center. One of the male group’s most recent performances was before a very appreciative audience at the Christmas sing-along at Mathews’ Central United Methodist Church. Meet Your Kids at the Bay School for a Movie Night! Friday, March 1. The kids can take the bus from school or you can drop them off at 3:00 at Mathews Memorial Library for rabbit time.
