Changing Courses Presented by Paul Mitchell, Historian

How two Confederate soldiers faithfully served God and changed the course of history after the Civil War

Paul Mitchell is a native of Powatan, Virginia, and a graduate of VMI. In recent years, he has spent his time researching and writing. He is coming to speak at Kingston Parish House about two figures important to the history of Kingston Parish.

The Rev. Frank Stringfellow served as rector of Kingston from 1886 to 1889. The Rev. Giles Buckner Cook served Kingston as rector from 1904 to 1915. Both men served the Confederate Army in fascinating ways earlier in their lives and then went on to faithfully serve God in the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Virginia in ways that included the furthering of black education at many levels.
