First Saturday in May
Kick off the Spring season with May Faire, in Mathews County, Virginia the first weekend of May every year.
The event celebrates Mathews County’s past with a different history theme each year. A highlight of the event is the May Pole Dance and the recognition of past May Queens. There are activities fun for the whole family. Come celebrate!
This jam packed weekend features:
Food and Craft Vendors
Music all day
Pound cake contest
Yellow ribbons around the County
May King and Queen
Maypole dance by Bayside Youth Ballet
Children’s play area and games run by Thomas Hunter Middle School
Bring your lawn chair & travel through time in Mathews County
This event takes place in the Historic Court House in downtown Mathews, walking distance from restaurants, plenty of stores and boutiques, historic sites including Tompkins Cottage, Mathews Museum, and Thomas James Store, and the Mathews County Visitor and Information Center!
