9am-1pm Farmers Christmas Market
Stop by the Historic Court Green for a special, seasonal holiday farmers market! Get in the cheery Christmas mood and find food, plants, baked goods, crafts and presents made, grown, or produced locally in Mathews County. You will find jams, soaps, seasonal produce, hand woven and hand carved items, Christmas ornaments and holiday gifts, jewelry, plants, herbs, warm drinks, and baked goods.
10:00am Holiday Open House and Local History
Stop by Tompkins Cottage for a Holiday Open House Tour from 10am-1pm to experience period decorations, holiday shopping and a visit and book signing with Martha W. McCartney and her book “Mathews County Virginia: Lost Landscapes, Untold Stories.” Also take a peak at the new Mathews Museum at 198 Main Street for hot cider, cookies, raffles, and Christmas gifts! Open 9:30am-5pm.
10am-5pm Shop Local in Mathews County

1pm-2pm Community Parade
Don’t miss this festive downtown country parade – a holiday favorite! Make sure you bring a small bag of non-perishable food items for the Mathews Cub Scout Pack 124’s Annual Christmas Food Drive! You can also drop off food donations at the Visitor Center. Keep in mind that Church Street will be closed during the parade.
2pm-5pm Visit with Santa Claus
Stop by the Mathews Visitor Center inside Sibley’s General Store to have a visit and picture with Santa Claus! Make sure to bring a camera! Also, the first 50 kids get a free Christmas book!
