Mark your calendars now for our 2025 dates:
May 2, July 11 & October 10!
After a multi-year hiatus due to construction, Music on Maple is officially back for the 2025 season! Info on sponsorships, food trucks and drink choices is coming soon- but you will want to be there to see these very talented groups- performing in Mathews for the first time!
An intimate courtyard concert under the star in downtown Mathews. This event features regional music talent, a local food truck and libations among the beautiful architecture of the Sibley’s and James Store historic district.
Our first Music on Maple concert of the year will be on May 2nd, and the band is the Tristan Dougherty Trio!
Tristan Dougherty is a folk musician and songwriter based in Richmond, Virginia. By combining meditative, finger-style guitar playing with warm, illuminative lyrics and innovative arrangements, he’s developed a refreshingly original sound that draws on indie, classic country and Appalachian music traditions. Whether performing solo or with his string band, his work reflects a deep reverence for the craft, rooted in the belief that live music is essential to keeping our souls awake and our communities connected.
We are thrilled to have this talented act joining us, and to also have local musician Hunter Owens playing on set breaks!
Small Town Burger will also be set up at this event, and we’ll be selling beer from Gloucester Brewing Company, as well as wine, soft drinks and water!

On July 11, join us in welcoming Richmond Americana artist Mackenzie Roark to Mathews for the first time! As the front woman of Mackenzie Roark & the Hotpants, she is known for blending the soulful roots of classic country, the storytelling spirit of 70’s folk, and the raw edge of rock and roll! She will be appearing as as a duo and is ready to groove with all of you!
Don Chido food truck will also be selling their delicious eats at this event, and we’ll be selling beer from Gloucester Brewing Company, as well as wine, soft drinks and water!

On October 10, we are so lucky to have the talented combo of Leverty, Leedes and Austin performing together to recreate some of your favorite Grateful Dead songs and maybe a little down-home Americana too! John Leedes, Taylor Leverty and Doug Austin are known around the state for their lively musical styles, and for playing in multiple bands that feature Dead-related tunes!
Local musician Shane Norris will be performing during set breaks, and we can’t wait to jam out with all of these super talented guys!
We’ll have yummy food from On the Flip Side, and we’ll be selling beer from Gloucester Brewing Company, as well as wine, soft drinks and water!

The events are all located in the Library Courtyard area, Thomas James Store and Sibley’s General Store building. Proceeds from the events benefit the Mathews Visitor Center and Mathews County Historical Society. Previous artists featured include RapJack, Tara Mills Music and Jimmy Stelling, VW Old Time, and Cole Stevens and the Delta Daggers.
