The Mathews Spring Community Cleanup brought another successful event for litter cleanup in the community. We want to say a big THANK YOU to the 61 volunteers who came out on Saturday, April 10th, and to those who picked up close to home that day!
An energized group of citizens, and civic organizations collectively picked up 99 bags of trash, off of 27 miles of roadways throughout the county.
First timers to the cleanup this year were Chris and Emma Weber, and the Chesapeake Bay Association!
Quite a few Adopt-a-Highway participants, and community organizations showed up to participate. Thank you to the following groups:

A New Mapping Tool for Litter Cleanups
MCVIC has just launched a new tool for community members to upload their cleanup data to a public map. The goal of this map is for citizens, Adopt-a-highway groups, and cleanup coordinators to track on-going cleanups in Mathews, and target areas that have not been focused on. We want to highlight the hard work of dedicated citizens that care deeply for the natural beauty of our community, and we hope that they will use this tool to help us maximize county-wide efforts.
You can see this weekend’s cleanup data and submit your future cleanups by visiting visitmathews.com/cleanup. Fill out the survey to add your cleanup to the map. When you see the data visually, you can see that small individual efforts can collectively make a huge difference.
