Friday, Saturday, May 2 & 3, May Faire 2025 “A Rural Life: Country Stores, Post Offices and Wharfs” This year, a two-day county fair-type of event, with crafters, food trucks, and entertainment, a children’s corner, Pound Cake contest, photography contest and our traditional May Pole dance. Party at the Wharf Summer Series 2025
Join the Mathews Land Conservancy for their Party at the Wharf Summer Series with live music by Part Time, and a delicious food truck (TBA)! Gates open at 5 pm, with live music from 6-9 pm. Annual 9 mile paddling event for non-motorized craft, circumnavigating one of Virginia’s few inhabited islands: Gwynn’s Island in Mathews County. Registration cost is $65 per person not per boat. Tandem kayaks, 8-person racing shells, paddle boats and even dragon boats (!!) are permitted as long as they are human powered, non-motorized.
