Annual 9 mile paddling event for non-motorized craft, circumnavigating one of Virginia’s few inhabited islands: Gwynn’s Island in Mathews County. Registration cost is $65 per person not per boat. Tandem kayaks, 8-person racing shells, paddle boats and even dragon boats (!!) are permitted as long as they are human powered, non-motorized. Join the Mathews VA250 Committee for a double-ribbon cutting event!! Through a generous grant, the Mathews VA250 has arranged for two new LOVEWorks signs in Mathews- one at The Hatchery/ Oyster Seed Holdings, and one at Williams Wharf! Both will be unveiled on this day, and a ribbon-cutting to represent both signs will take place at the Hatchery. Stay after the ceremony for a day of fun, oysters, and drinks on the water- plus plenty of photo ops!
