Gwynn’s Island Festival ‘Kukini Run’
This event runs in conjunction with the Annual Gwynn’s Island Festival in late June. In Hawaiian, Kukini means “swift runner or messenger, employed by old chiefs, with a premium on their speed” – come enjoy the Island-themed event around Mathews County Virginia’s Gwynn’s Island! Micro Triathlon at Williams Wharf
1/4 mile swim, 8 mile bike, 2 mile run. Distances are shorter than a typical triathlon: for beginner triathletes, or experienced competitors who want to practice their transitions. Market Days Race
The Mathews Family YMCA is pleased to once again host the 5k-plus race* and 1-mile fun run this year in conjunction with the annual Mathews Market Days festival. Both races start and end at the YMCA (10746 Buckley Hall Road, Mathews). Awards will be presented to the fastest Male & Female overall 5k-plus finisher, and to the top finishers in 9 age groups. Horn Harbor Duathlon (Run+Swim)
Also known as "Beat The Jellies" we're doing it again! Join us in celebrating a wee bit of Scotland! Bagpipes and drums lead the parade for the start of the annual Highland games. Participants compete in fun and challenging traditional Celtic sports that originated centuries ago in Scotland. The games, testing strength, endurance and skill, are “sized” by age groups 6 to 14.
