Bring your kids to collect thousands of Easter eggs right in the heart of Mathews! The event starts at 11am sharp on the Mathews Courthouse Square. The Easter Bunny will be present, and there will be one egg with a prize donated by Dilly Dally Emporium!

The Mathews Farmers Market brings Saturday life in Mathews! May Faire's second annual festival is a family-friendly event sponsored by the Mathews County Historical Museum, will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. on the County’s Historic Court Green. The event has been officially named Mathews' Heritage Event! This year will be focusing on the 1950's theme. There will be a vendors, food trucks, live music and festival events!

Mathews Maritime Foundation Yard Sale
Please check your houses, garages, boats for items you feel ready to part with that can be enjoyed by the next person. We ALL have some! Please keep in mind that the new SEA SCOUT program is looking for camping gear (sleeping bags, tents, cook ware, etc.) to add to the fun as they learn boat handling techniques, cooperation, and building of spirit and skills. Items for the yard sale can be brought in the previous day, Friday June 1, from 10-2.

Join us in celebrating a wee bit of Scotland! Bagpipes and drums lead the parade for the start of the annual Highland games. Participants compete in fun and challenging traditional Celtic sports that originated centuries ago in Scotland. The games, testing strength, endurance and skill, are “sized” by age groups 6 to 14. Register in advance for a FREE t-shirt! Bus leaves library at 8:45 a.m. to take children to the Piankatank Ruritan Recreational Field.

July 4th Fireworks Show
The 21st annual 4th of July Fireworks Celebration at Mathews High School will take place on Wednesday, July 4th with a rain date of Thursday, July 5th. Fireworks will begin at approximately 9pm with entertainment and concessions starting around 6:30pm. Parking is available at Mathews High School with additional parking and a shuttle bus at Thomas Hunter Middle School running from 7:00 p.m. until its conclusion.
