Join the Mathews Main Street Committee for a special Thanksgiving holiday Farmers Market! Food, flowers, and gifts galore! Our vendors feature a variety of fresh vegetables, along with homemade bread and bakery goods, eggs, and meat. In addition, our vendors offer plants, flowers (potted and bouquets), handmade crafts, clothing, and jewelry. Tompkins Cottage Museum Thanksgiving Open House will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. as part of the Mathews Thanksgiving Farmers Market. Traditional fall decorations will be featured throughout. The 2024 Mathews County Historical Society ornament the Linda Carol will be featured. Other Mathews County Historical Society ornaments, Sally Tompkins dolls and publications will also be available for purchase.

This year's Mathews Christmas Parade theme is "Blue Crab Christmas!" The parade will be held on Saturday December 14, at 1 PM! There is no rain date if the parade is cancelled due to inclement weather, and the parade will take place rain or shine. Prizes will be awarded for the best entry in each of the following categories: Civic, Animal, Walking Unit, School, Commercial, Motorized, Church, Parade Theme, and Antique Vehicle.
