”Crickets on A Hill” a musical play by County resident Judy Ward, is part of a series of events planned to commemorate the 242nd anniversary of the Battle of Cricket Hill which took place on Gwynn’s Island, July 9-10, 1776. The Crickets musical is well known and beloved by Mathews residents and honors the role that the county played in the Revolutionary War. Contact mchm1791@gmail.com or A. Minuth at 804-725-7947 for more information. This event is sponsored by the Court House Players and the Mathews County Historical Museum. A June 30 Saturday evening performance at 7:30 pm and a July 1 Sunday Matinee performance begins the week. Fireworks on the 4th, culminating in an encampment and reenactment on Gwynn’s Island July 7-8. A TRULY REVOLUTIONARY WEEK IN MATHEWS COUNTY!
