Basic Computer Skills – 4 session day class (March 14, 15, 16 & 17)

An introductory class to train beginners or those who wish to refresh their basic computer skills.

The first session focuses on foundational skills including an overview of Internet resources and computer security issues. Participants will learn about the computer’s hardware and software components and how to connect to various networks.

The next two sessions are a foundational overview of the Windows 8.1 operating system. Participants will learn about the new Start Screen and Desktop, how to manipulate windows and work with applications and how to use File Explorer to manage folders and files.

During the last session, participants will learn more about the Internet and using the Internet Explorer browser. Browsing and searching techniques will be discussed as well as bookmarking favorite websites. Participants will learn to effectively communicate with others using a popular web-based E-mail service.
