he theme of the Mathews Christmas Parade this year is “Christmas at Home” and it took no hesitation for the Mathews County Visitor and Information Center’s Tourism Advisory Board to select the nomination of Peggy Hudgins as this year’s grand marshal. Peggy embodies the warmth, nurturing, and family-devoted spirit of our greater community, and her longstanding influence to strengthen and protect many services that serve the Mathews people will be celebrated in the theme this year. There’s nothing quite like having Christmas in Mathews and we would like to celebrate all of the wonderful people, especially moms, who make Christmas special in our homes each year.
Peggy has been an active member of the community and volunteer in Mathews for nearly 40 years starting with her work at Mathews Social Services. She has been involved with the Social Services, annual Christmas Store, Hands Across Mathews, Kingston Episcopal Parish, Kingston Parish Fall Fair, Mathews Community Foundation, Mathews Visitor Center, and Central Village Homemakers.
We want to say THANK YOU to all of the wonderful people of Mathews who make our County a better place to live, and a personal thank you to Peggy for many dedicated years to the community and especially to the Mathews Visitor Center.
The Christmas Parade is scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 14th at 1pm downtown, and the Visit with Santa at 2pm at the Visitor Center in Sibley’s General Store.
