11th Annual Mathews Memorial Library Highland Games & Picnic
The Highland Games have been in existence since before the dawn of Christianity. In those days, the gatherings were essentially war games designed to select the best warriors in each family tribe or clan. Participants in our Highland games will compete in fun and challenging Celtic tests of strength, endurance and skill. Prizes are awarded by age group 6 to 14, games include: Turning the Caber • Sheaf Toss • Clachneart • Tug-of-war

Bagels & Fraylox Klezmer Band will feature in “Soothin’ Summer Sounds”, an annual series of live musical events, at the Mathews Memorial Library. This year’s theme “Play It Again…” takes a trip down memory lane based on a survey following the conclusions of last year’s programs to determine audience favorites since launching the series in 2005. Mathews Oral History Project
The oral history project is creating permanent records of individual histories of Mathews County natives. Recorded on audio tape, the records will also be transcribed. The completed project will be available online and in the Mathews Memorial Library. The interview is an opportunity to reflect on and interpret events of the past from the perspective of the present. The Mathews Oral History Project is part of the Virginia Fieldwork in Folklore.

With this introduction to Excel, you will gain knowledge of the basic commands and functions of spreadsheets and the essentials of working with worksheets and workbooks.
