This year’s May Faire children’s corner will be hosted by the local Kiwanis Club and will feature a midway of games with electric basketball\, rubber duckies\, hatching baby chickens brought to us by CA & J Farm\, a petting zoo area\, a Hungarian pig and an archaeological dig sponsored by Fairfield Foundation. \nInside the Museum there will be special exhibits relative to Mathews’ history\, a quilt and juried crafts\, jams and jellies judging\, and outside on the Court Green there will be educational as well as vendor booths.  And music and food all day.  Bring the family and enjoy the day! \nNOTE: As May Faire will include jams\, jellies\, and canned goods judging\, we are asking that you set aside some products now\, as it is too early in May for these products to be produced.  Thank you!

The historical marker commemorates recurrent flights to freedom during the Revolutionary War\, War of 1812 and Civil War. The dedication and unveiling will be followed by refreshments in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church.

Colby first dreamed of making music his life at age 12\, when a group of Blue Ridge Mountain old-time and bluegrass players performed songs like The Ozark Mountain Daredevils’ “Standing On The Rock” and the gospel classic “A Beautiful Life” at his father’s funeral in Boones Mill\, VA. To make his dream a reality\, he taught himself guitar\, banjo\, and mandolin by watching local performers and YouTube videos.

DESCRIPTION:Located in Mathews\, VA\, on the beautiful Chesapeake Bay\, the Tour de Chesapeake cycling event\, now in its 25th year\, offers rural\, flat roads that all lead to water. \nThere are 4 concise routes\, each around 25 miles\, which take cyclists from our own Gwynn’s Island to Bethel Beach to the New Point Lighthouse.  Each route has fully stocked rest stops\, SAG support and lovely views galore! \nYou may ride any route as many times as you like to add up the miles! \nWe are the only ride that offers a WATER TAXI on an authentic Chesapeake Bay Deadrise within one of the routes!  Our ride culminates on Saturday evening with a Seafood Feast and Party at the Wharf\, at the Riverfront Pavilion at historic Williams Wharf Landing.
