DESCRIPTION:We’ve created a SERIES of our very popular Micro-Triathlon events at Williams Wharf in Mathews County\, Virginia. This series kicked off in 2018 and is back for another season. MMTS #3 event on July 30 has options for Micro Triathlon OR Sprint Triathlon.\n\nWhat’s a Micro-Triathlon? The micro triathlon contains the same components of a “regular” triathlon: swim-bike-run\, with much shorter distances for each of those 3 legs. The open water swim is 0.2 miles\, the bike leg is 8 miles and the run portion is 2 miles.

Buckley Moss will be a guest of the Mathews Museum\, Sunday afternoon\, August 14\, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.   She will be signing the 2nd in a four-part series of Mathews-centric prints and trivets created exclusively to benefit the Museum. This 2nd in the series titled “Workhorse of the Bay\,” is the depiction of a deadrise\, the workboat for the Mathews’ watermen and a mainstay on the Chesapeake  Bay.  Prints and trivets\, both the 1st and 2nd in the series\, will be available on the 14th. These renderings are created specifically for the Museum and are part of a planned 4-part series\, with the last two schedule to debut at Mathews May Faire events\, which are annual festivals celebrated in Mathews County the first weekend in May. The Museum is pleased\, proud and grateful for the support of the artist and her organization. DESCRIPTION:Mathews Marathon & Half Marathon\nOctober 15\, 7am\nmocva.com/marathon \n \nRun along peaceful\, rural backroads in beautiful Mathews County\, Virginia. Enjoy the fast\, flat course that winds through dirt\, gravel and paved roads and past the serenity of one of Virginia’s last great countrysides. Registration will close on October 9 – cost is $50 for Half Marathon\, $75 for Full Marathon.\n \n\n\nThe race course is along open roads (not closed to traffic). “Caution Runner” signs will be prominently displayed along the route and participants are advised to be aware of other runners and motorists.\n\nAll participants in the Full & Half Marathon will receive a finisher medal and custom hooded sweatshirt to commemorate their accomplishment. Awards will be presented to fastest overall finishers and to winners in several categories.\nPost Event Activities will be held at the Put In Creek park pavilion. Race participants and spectators are encouraged to enjoy the Mathews Farmers Market which will be ongoing at the adjoining courthouse area.\nAll activities will wrap up at 1pm – race support will end at that time as well. Any racers who are still on the course after six hours will be offered transportation to the finish area by the event crew.
