MMTS #3 event on July 30 has options for Micro Triathlon OR Sprint Triathlon.\n\nWhat’s a Micro-Triathlon? The micro triathlon contains the same components of a “regular” triathlon: swim-bike-run\, with much shorter distances for each of those 3 legs. The open water swim is 0.2 miles\, the bike leg is 8 miles and the run portion is 2 miles.

DESCRIPTION:It’s so easy to join in the fun. Pick a Captain\, add 9 others to make a 10-person team\, and get ready to compete for a trophy – and bragging rights. Each player receives a team shirt included with registration – show up on May 21 & get ready to PLAY BALL. Teams must register by April 20; team rosters will be due on May 1. Registration information is online at mocva.net/kickball.\n\n\n\nWho can play. The Kickball Tournament is open to all skill levels\, age 14 & older. Team Captains will complete a roster of their players\, which will include a signed waiver for each participant (or parent for players ages 14-17). You do not need to be a resident of Mathews County to participate in this tournament. \n\n\nPre-Tournament Meeting. Each team captain or designated representative needs to attend a meeting a few weeks before the event. The event organizer will review schedule and rules with captains/ reps and collect team rosters. Also during this meeting\, Team Captains will select colors & sizes for their team member shirts.

The race course is 4 miles and the cost is $30. For those looking for a shorter distance\, we will have a Free Fun Run open for everyone (distance just > 1 mile). \n10 mile bicycle ride\nWeaving around the backroads of Gwynn’s Island\, you’ll catch glimpses of the Chesapeake Bay\, Milford Sound\, and the popular campground & RV resort on the island as you complete the course. The route is 10 miles and the cost is $30. \nCombine the run & ride\nFeeling adventurous? Sign up for the combined Run & Ride and make it a duathlon. The 4 mile run and 10 mile ride routes are the same as the individual events described above – you’ll stage your bicycle so that as you complete the run leg\, you can immediately head out onto the bike course. The cost is $50.

Completing this course and passing the exam meets the VA requirements. \nWho Needs Boater Education?\nIn 2007\, the Virginia General Assembly established a boating safety education compliance requirement which has been phased in over the past several years. As of July 1\, 2016\, all operators (regardless of age) of PWCs (personal watercraft such as jet skis\, Sea Doos\, and Wave Runners) and motorboats with a motor of 10 horsepower or greater will be required to have a boating safety education course completion card on board when operating a PWC or motorboat.

DESCRIPTION:Annual Labor Day Event \n3 mile run + 2.5 mile kayak\, starting & ending in Mathews Courthouse area\, transition point at Williams Wharf. Sound like a good time to you? Then feel free to join us on Labor Day 2021: Monday\, Sep 6th. That’s right: it’s free & open to everyone. \nLocation. This event will start and end at Put-In-Creek park and pavilion in Mathews Courthouse. Just a few years ago\, the town of Mathews built a new dock and kayak ramp there so getting in and out of the water is really easy. The creek is tidal so we schedule it to finish very near high tide to ensure no one gets stuck in the mud. \nHigh Tide on 6 Sep 2021 is 9:02am ET \n2021 Schedule. Participants will drop off kayak at Williams Wharf at 8am (we’ll have a volunteer posted there to keep an eye on the kayaks and assist with the transition) and drive to starting area at Put-In-Creek park. We’ll have brief instructions and start as close to 8:30am as possible. We’ve done this course several times – no one has done it as a relay\, but that is certainly an option if you want to divide it up with another person.

The creek is tidal so we schedule it to finish very near high tide to ensure no one gets stuck in the mud. High Tide on 7 Sep 2020 is 12:46pm ET \nSchedule. Participants will drop off kayak at Williams Wharf at 11am (we’ll have a volunteer posted there to keep an eye on the kayaks and assist with the transition) and drive to starting area at Put-In-Creek park. We’ll have brief instructions and start as close to 11:30am as possible. We’ve done this course several times – no one has done it as a relay\, but that is certainly an option if you want to divide it up with another person. \nBring a lunch. We’ll enjoy the brand new pavilion at the finish area for a bring-your-own picnic lunch. Again: everyone & anyone is welcome to participate: you do not have to be a VTTR club member or Mathews resident to take part. \nTiming. Timing equipment will be on hand if we have volunteers show up to operate it. So if you’re interested in your overall time\, be prepared with your own watch/ timing device. A volunteer will be at transition point only. The course is on open road & open water – competitors will participating at their own risk. Event will be held rain-or-shine – it will only be cancelled on race morning due to lightning (posted on Virginia Tidewater Trailrunners Facebook page). DESCRIPTION:This Kid’s Kayak Camp is for ages 10 – 15. \nThere will be 6 children per camp. At camp your child will become familiar with all of the parts of the kayak; how to enter and exit the kayak properly; how to maneuver with skill and how to self-rescue and group rescue.
