DESCRIPTION:Earl Swift\, author of “Chesapeake Requiem\,” will speak about his book which takes an intimate look at Tangier Island\, it’s past\, present and tenuous future. A veteran journalist\, Swift made his home among the residents of Tangier for more than a year after thinking for some time that writing a book on the Island was something he “wanted to do.”  As a result\, he saw firsthand\, not only the encroaching waters that threaten the Island but also the degree to which the residents are bound together as a community.
