Call 804-725-4229 or email mathewsvisitorcenter@gmail.com with any questions. \nYou will receive two free meals during the date of the cleanup including breakfast to-go\, and a pizza party lunch! \nFor Adopt-a-Highway or Small Community Groups\, we ask that ONE or TWO group leaders from your cleanup group be responsible for picking up and dropping off cleanup supplies to MCVIC\, and distributing them carefully among your participating members. Groups should separate themselves along cleanup routes and avoid gathering. \nLet us know how many family members will be participating in your cleanup. \nDecide on a route of your choosing\, or MCVIC will provide you with a list of high-priority areas in Mathews the morning of the event. \nPick up your supplies between 8am to 9am at Sibley’s General Store. DESCRIPTION:The Mathews Market Days Committee is proud to present the artwork of the late Mr. W. Langley Deagle\, Sr. featured on this year’s Mathews Market Days poster.\nLangley was a graduate of Mathews High School\, a graphic artist for the Naval Weapons Station\, and also known for having painted the names on many boats in and around the Mathews County area. His work expanded from on boats to paintings on canvas\, drawings on paper\, and more\, primarily showcasing his love for birds and the Chesapeake Bay. The 2021 Mathews Market Days poster features Langley’s painting of a local buyboat\, the “Lavenia H.”\n\nMrs. Janet Deagle will be present on Saturday\, December 4th from 10 AM – 1 PM along with some of their children to honor Langley’s artwork and legacy during the first sale of this year’s poster.\n\nThere will be 175 posters available for sale with a limited number signed.

DESCRIPTION:Annual Labor Day Event \n3 mile run + 2.5 mile kayak\, starting & ending in Mathews Courthouse area\, transition point at Williams Wharf. Sound like a good time to you? Then feel free to join us on Labor Day 2021: Monday\, Sep 6th. That’s right: it’s free & open to everyone. \nLocation. This event will start and end at Put-In-Creek park and pavilion in Mathews Courthouse. Just a few years ago\, the town of Mathews built a new dock and kayak ramp there so getting in and out of the water is really easy. The creek is tidal so we schedule it to finish very near high tide to ensure no one gets stuck in the mud. \nHigh Tide on 6 Sep 2021 is 9:02am ET \n2021 Schedule. Participants will drop off kayak at Williams Wharf at 8am (we’ll have a volunteer posted there to keep an eye on the kayaks and assist with the transition) and drive to starting area at Put-In-Creek park. We’ll have brief instructions and start as close to 8:30am as possible. We’ve done this course several times – no one has done it as a relay\, but that is certainly an option if you want to divide it up with another person.

There will be 2 Spring Cleanup dates this year. \nPlease let us know if you can attend by filling out the form below: \nhttps://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LCPTBF6 \nTwo Spring Cleanup Dates are:\nEarth Day\, Mon.\, April 22nd\nMiddle Peninsula Chapter\, Master Naturalists would like your help in cleaning Bethel Beach Natural Area Preserve\, and local birding and wildlife trails. \nCommunity Cleanup\, Sat.\, April 27th\, 8am-12pm\nThis is a county-wide cleanup sponsored by the Mathews Visitor and Information Center. \n8am-9am – Check-in\, pick up supplies\, free coffee and donuts from the Visitor Center. Note that all groups must have someone over 18 years old and are responsible for their own transportation. \n9am-12pm – Clean a roadway with your group. Keep count of bags collected and leave our orange trash bags on the side of the road. We will have a list of high priority roads if your group does not have a place in mind. \n12pm – Return supplies\, and come back for a free pizza lunch! \nWe will provide two FREE meals\, and all the equipment you will need: vests\, trash bags\, gloves\, and nets. We recommend you wear long sleeved shirts\, pants\, and waterproof boots.
