SUMMARY:May Faire 2023
DESCRIPTION:The Mathews Historical Museum is hosting its 5th Annual Spring Heritage Festival – May Faire 2023! \nMay Day Festivals were commonplace in Mathews from early 1900s to the 1980s. The Mathews Historical Museum reintroduced the festival concept in 2017\, renaming it “May Faire.” Each year May Faire honors the heritage of Mathews County\, providing residents and visitors an opportunity to explore a different theme from the County’s past. The theme for May Faire 2023 is “Celebrating Teachers\, Schools and Community: Over a Hundred Years of Public Education in Mathews County.” \nActivities will take place both on Court House Green and the Museum. Join us for new exhibits in the museum that will honor teachers\, administrators and staff along with a photo display focusing on the historic schools of the county and exhibits of school memorabilia. “Conversations with our Teachers\,” where Mathews residents whose livelihoods centered around public schools\, will share their life experiences with us. \nThere will be a traditional May Pole Dance\, musical entertainment\, arts & crafts booths\, a children’s corner and our traditional pound cake contest! \nFor additional information\, visit the Mathews Historical Museum’s website\, listed below.
