DESCRIPTION:Ware Neck\, a narrow body of land bordered on one side by the Ware River and the other by the North River\, is in Gloucester County. Visitors will enjoy this tour showcasing a close-knit community with a historic general store and post office\, whose early success was due to ties with steamships that once traded at nearby Hockley Wharf. Three private homes in this quaint community with unique and varied architecture and spectacular river views are included: Glen Roy\, an Antebellum mansion and one of the most elegant historic properties in Gloucester; The Lighthouse\, an eight-sided\, red roofed home in the style of a Chesapeake Bay lighthouse; and The Leigh House\, a more contemporary open and airy home with sweeping views of the Mobjack. Buckley Moss will be a guest of the Mathews Museum\, Sunday afternoon\, August 14\, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.   She will be signing the 2nd in a four-part series of Mathews-centric prints and trivets created exclusively to benefit the Museum. This 2nd in the series titled “Workhorse of the Bay\,” is the depiction of a deadrise\, the workboat for the Mathews’ watermen and a mainstay on the Chesapeake  Bay.  Prints and trivets\, both the 1st and 2nd in the series\, will be available on the 14th. These renderings are created specifically for the Museum and are part of a planned 4-part series\, with the last two schedule to debut at Mathews May Faire events\, which are annual festivals celebrated in Mathews County the first weekend in May. The Museum is pleased\, proud and grateful for the support of the artist and her organization.
