DESCRIPTION:The Bay School has invited eleven talented artists and artisans to participate in our Holiday Pop-Up Market. This year\, tables will be set up inside the Art Speaks Gallery\, November 12 through December 31. \nShopping hours will be available throughout the week and weekends\, with the market running some evenings for your convenience. SUMMARY:Concerts by the Bay: Kinnfolk
DESCRIPTION:The husband and wife duo of Josh and Julie Kinn weave octave mandolin\, bodhrán (Irish drum)\, and smooth vocal harmonies into their Celtic folk music from the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. From sea shanties and working songs\, to trad tunes and Old Time favorites\, Kinnfolk’s fresh take on classics blends seamlessly with their original compositions. They share stories as enduring as tartan\, spinning yarns steeped in Appalachian charm and enjoying playful banter with the audience. Their shows feel like a kitchen party\, where everyone is family\, and there’s always room for a dancer.  Kinnfolk is rooted in tradition\, lore and ancestry. \nThis performance is partially supported by funding from the Virginia Commission for the Arts.

SUMMARY:Empty Bowls
DESCRIPTION:The Bay School and Hands Across Mathews will host our annual Empty Bowls Fundraiser on Sunday\, December 14 from 11:00 AM-1:30 PM. \nAn incredible assortment of handmade soups\, breads\, and cookies will be served during the event. For a $20 donation\, individuals will receive a hand-crafted bowl to be treasured or given as a gift and a simple lunch of soup\, bread\, and cookies. Community potters and members of the Clay by the Bay Ceramics Guild are creating the bowls from which to choose\, and volunteers are cooking crock pots of soup of many different varieties\, homemade breads\, and too many cookies to count! \nLast year\, The Empty Bowls Fundraiser raised $15\,557.15\, which was more than $4\,000 above the previous year’s effort. Come out and make this year’s event an even bigger success! \nAll proceeds will go directly to Hands Across Mathews. The mission of Hands Across Mathews is to help local families who have suffered some crisis that puts them in need of the basic amenities of food\, clothing\, shelter\, prescription medications\, or fuel. When all other avenues of support have been exhausted\, Hands Across Mathews helps them get back on their feet. The organization combines the efforts of 35 churches in the area to provide non-denominational charitable aid to families\, which have been evaluated and approved by the Mathews County Social Services Department.
