Annual Labor Day Event

3 mile run + 2.5 mile kayak, starting & ending in Mathews Courthouse area, transition point at Williams Wharf. Sound like a good time to you? Then feel free to join us on Labor Day 2022: Monday, Sep 5th. That’s right: it’s free & open to everyone. It’s a ‘just for fun’ event, but don’t get me wrong – there are some who will be competing with each other, but all in good fun.

High Tide on 5 Sep 2022 is 5:10pm ET

Participants will drop off kayak at Williams Wharf at 3:00pm (we’ll have a volunteer posted there to keep an eye on the kayaks and assist with the transition) and drive to starting area at Put-In-Creek park. We’ll have brief instructions and start as close to 3:30pm as possible. We’ve done this course several times – two-person relay is certainly an option if you want to divide it up with another person.

A Campaign to Save Sibley’s

Sibley’s General Store has been central to the Mathews County Downtown Historic District since the store was constructed in 1899. Serving our community for over 120 years, the impacts of time and climate have not gone easy on the historically registered building. MCVIC has a plans in place to preserve its structural and historical integrity into the future. So far, we have achieved 80% of our goal, but now we need your help!
